As long as I can remember, I wanted to become a doctor. I worked very hard throughout high school and during my undergraduate degree. I did everything of what is expected of a typical medical school applicant such as keeping my grades as high as possible, doing well on the MCAT, carry out research, volunteering and gaining experience in various organizations. Throughout this time, I heard about the casper test, but its importance was not emphasized enough. Most people told me not to worry about it. They said its a one hour test which does not need much preparation as there is not much one can do to prepare for it.
During my third year of undergrad, I decided to shoot my shot and apply for medical schools in Canada. As I learned
more
about the medical school selection process, I noticed that surprisingly many schools pay significant attention to my
casper score. That application cycle more universities were requiring applicants to take the casper test compared to
the
previous year.
In the two weeks time leading up to my test I purchased a third party casper prep book, practiced with free online
resources and increased my typing speed. Unfortunately, I did not receive any interview invites that cycle. I was
not
able to see the score I received on the casper test as that year the results of the casper test was not being
distributed to students. The only area of my application that I could think of that resulted in getting rejected was
my
casper score.
In the next application cycle, I put alot of effort into obtaining crucial tips to ace the casper test from
third-party
resources to youtube videos. However, I received a third quartile and was still not offered an interview at my dream
school. I remember being devastated and losing hope of becoming a doctor.
In my opinion and the people I have worked with, I am emapthethic and professional but I was not able to effectively
translate these skills to the test. I was not going to let a test unrelated my future profession stop me in my
tracks. I
decided to carefully curate my preparation and not follow the generic information available online for the casper
test.
I started talking to students that scored on 4th quartile on the casper test. I implemented all the tips and tricks
that
worked for other 4th quartile scorers and started experimenting with of my own ways of answering the questions.
After
alot of hard work I was able to achieve a 4th quartile score in both the american and canadian casper test for
medicine.
I am not going to lie to you guys, it took alot of time to improve the skills necessary to perform well on the
casper. I
decided to make sure no other student fall in the traps I did. I developed a team of 4th quartile students including
myself to prepare students for the casper test. We help students by creating the most unique casper practice tests,
provide feedback on their answers and provide them with one-on-one coaching.
