The CASPer test is scored on a percentile basis, which means your score is based on how you perform compared to other
test-takers. For example, if you score in the 75th percentile, that means you performed better than 75% of the people
who took the test. The higher the better.
To calculate your percentile score, Your performance is compared to other applicants who are taking the exact same
casper test. For example if you are writing the casper test for american medical schools, your relative score is not
compared with those that wrote the casper test for canadian medical schools despite the test being more or less similar.
Each section of the CASPer test is marked by a unique rater, therefore your score is impacted by multiple rater
impressions. Each rater will give you a score between 0 to 9. Your score for each section will make your score for the
test. A score of 0 would indicate an ‘unsatisfactory’ answer and a score of 9 will be an ‘excellent’ answer. According
to Acuity Insights the raters are well trained and put through rigorous training regarding the importance of the test
and potential biases that may exist in their marking.
The Company administering the exam, Acuity Insights, provides your exact percentile score on the test relative to other
test takers to the professional schools you are applying to. However, as an applicant you can only find out the quartile
percentile score in which you have scored within. 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th quartile. A percentile score of 0-25%, 25-50%,
50-75%, and 75-100% would refer to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th quartile respectively.
