Every year the casper test has been changing, and this year is no different. We were not too surprised by this change
as we knew that the company administering the test is changing from TakeAltus to Acuity Insights. There are a few
differences that you should take into consideration if you are writing the casper test in the next cycle.
First of all, it appears that the new test has one less question, so 14 questions in total. In the new casper test
there are 6 video response scenarios and 8 typed response scenarios. So there is one less typed response scenario
compared to the last cycle. In the new casper test the video response section has moved to the beginning of the test as
opposed to being at the end.
More importantly in the new casper test video response scenarios only have 2 questions instead of 3. The breaks have
also changed slightly. Now there is a 10 minute break after finishing the video response section and a 5 minute break
halfway into the typed response scenarios.
Overall, I believe this is better for students as the test is slightly shorter by having one less scenario and one
less question for each video response scenario. Also the Casper Snapshot is being removed in the 2023/2024 cycle. This
makes a lot of sense as the snapshot is very similar to the video response scenarios that have been introduced into the
casper test just in the last cycle.
You should not be concerned about this change if you are writing your casper test for schools in the 2022/2023 cycle.
Also the registration for tests in the 2023/2024 cycle has not yet started. You can find more information about these
changes on the casper website, link in the description.
